Week 14 January 9 - 12

DEMOLITION CONTINUES ! !

This week we kept on with the demolishing of the trailer.  It was a blast !  Removing the insulation was kind of a pain, but we got it all out.  All the tin siding was recycled and all the crappy wood was thrown away.

Week 13 January 3 - 5

DEMOLITION WEEK ! !  We started the new year off working for the Yakama Nation at a site in Gleed, right next to the Naches River.  There was an old mobile home with some landscaping done in the yard and the tribe wanted things cleared out.

So for Tuesday we started removing the all the fences.  All the good wood was separated out and piled somewhat neatly, while the junk wood was all tossed together in a trash pile.  The t-posts were extremely difficult to pull out.  We eventually had to use Sasha (our wonderful work truck) and a chain to rip them out of the ground.  The tribe also wanted us to try to get a concrete slab basketball court out, which seemed like a simple enough thing to do.  Sadly, the slab is still there.  It is proving to be more difficult than anticipated. Perhaps next week we can use dynamite . . .

Anyways, Wednesday we continued with the tearing out and the stacking.  For a while we ripped nails out of the boards we were saving.  We were running out of stuff to take out by the afternoon.  Then we were told we could take out the mobile home.  BOOYAH ! ! This is where the real demolition began !  All we had to do was carefully take out the things that could be recycled or reused, then we could go town.  Sledgehammers, mallets, crowbars, and our bodies were used to take down doors, cupboards, walls, etc.

Thursday, we continued with demolition.  We finished tearing off the metal siding and cleared out all the fiberglass insulation.  We took out all the windows, doors, toilets, tubs, and carpets.  Eventually we pulled the deck off the house with Sasha.  This week was fun !
